Spot-The-Pimp

So, researchers have mapped the sexual network of an entire high school. I know this, because of this article titled "Researchers Map the Sexual Network of an Entire High School".

First off, bravo to OSU, for sponsoring research so integral to our understanding of the universe at large. These dedicated perverts scientists polled the students about who had sex with who over the last 18 months, then graphed the results. Now, on to the resulting map:

That image's filename is "highschoolsex.jpg". Welcome, Google users!

Anyhow, you may now proceed with your games of spot-the-sluts and pick-the-pimps. The ~50% of students who didn't report having sex aren't on the map, to avoid a sea of single dots, I suppose. As boring as that would be, it's sad to not see my people represented. There are also couple of homosexual/bisexual pairings to be found, but very few. Of course, as this is a poll-based study, you have to wonder just how many students were being completely truthful here.

The really interesting thing would be to see a map of this plotted over time, to see the change in relationships and who moved from where to where, when. Then again, the researchers probably have better things to do. At least, I hope so.

Ya know, I read an interesting article a couple months ago (I think it was in Discover) that outlined similar research but at Truck stops which are, apparently, large facilitators of STD transmissions. There was a big controversy about Governmental funding of the research and everything but, taken from a let's-prevent-an-STD-pandemic, it seemed reasonable enough. I'm not sure this qualifies to be in that category, but, c'mon, highschool chicks are hot! Hahahaha.
