Sex cauldron? I thought they closed that place down!
Believe it or not, my life for the last week has not revolved entirely around losing my mind at the incompetence of the current government. I've also been raging at teachers who are giving out stupid Junior-level assignments during my last semester, when I'm supposed to be building my damn portfolio. Fuck that shit.
I also attended the third, and theoretically last wedding of the season over the past weekend, and it was lovely. I don't want to think about the logistics of getting authorization to wed in Central Park, but they seem to have been worth it. Congrats, Abe and Belinda. And thanks for letting me stuff my face and get drunk off my ass on your dime. Anna has great pics here. The view from that penthouse ballroom was amazing.
It's something of an uneasy thing for me how I'm beginning to feel comfortable in my suit. Granted, it might have something to do with the fact that I only own one and the recent spate of weddings has forced me to don it a lot more. But as a milestone, it's worrying. As a kid/teenager/young adult suits were the things I wore when needed, always feeling and looking awkward. While still awkward in a general sense, I'm starting to become... accustomed to the tie and jacket. Makes me feel respectable. That's good. Makes me feel old. That's bad. Comes with a free frogurt. That's good.
I never got around to talking about England.
Apple released a new version of iTunes today, which comes with Quicktime 7 for PC. This will let me watch the HD Gallery movies over at Apple. At 720p, the movie window is wider than one of my monitors. Scary. Seems a bit buggy, though.

Apple actually released something of a beta version of Quicktime 7 for Windows a few months back. It's spectacularly...slow. Frame drops maybe as much as 30% or more; watchable, but clearly not first-rate. I watched some 1280x720 trailers, and I suppose choppiness is to be expected at that kind of a resolution. I'll have to try my hand at some up-scaling some XviDs to 720p, just to see if it's mainly a res prob or a processing prob.
There was some talk a while back on Doom9.org on getting x264 to handle Apple trailers, being that Apple is currently the main source for any kind of downloadable HD content. Dunno' what came of it, though.
